The Grand Canal in China connects the south and the north and links the past and the present. Over centuries, the canal has been flowing through cities, not only facilitating transport between southern and northern China, but also affecting the lifestyles of people living along the route. A cultural bond of ancient China to link the world, the Grand Canal has significantly promoted cultural convergence, exchange and integration among various ethnic groups throughout history, and showcased the openness and inclusiveness of Chinese civilization.

The photo exhibition displays the diverse and profound cultures of cities along the Grand Canal, under the themes of “A Beautiful Canal, “A Charming Canal”, and “A Prosperous Canal”, demonstrating the Grand Canal’s different cultural landscapes in different historical periods from multiple perspectives.
